Matt Amon, owner and operator of Way Out There Adventures, knows firsthand how important the outdoors can be for people, young or old. “When I was in tenth grade, I went to British Columbia on an Outward Bound trip,” Matt recalls. “They taught me communication skills and life skills. It was really important to my development. I remember falling in love with the outdoors and thinking to myself, ‘This could be my classroom one day.’”
Matt ended up working for the very company that taught him so much as a young man, but the job came with a lot of downtime. So he started up Way Out There Adventures as a way to stay busy. “I wanted to keep going and I love the outdoors and taking other people with me,” he says. “So Way Out There Adventures was born. It’s part of my attempt to find a way to make playing outside a sustainable way of life.”
