What is rebar?

Rebar (reinforcing bar) is a steel bar used in construction projects to provide tensile and yield strength to concrete structures. Rebar provides strength and support for varying climate conditions and reduces the overall thickness of structural supports in projects.
How Does Rebar Fabrication Work?

Rebar fabrication involves cutting and shaping steel reinforcing bars based upon detailed specifications for architectural and construction requirements.
What is a rebar fabricator?

A fabricator manipulates rebar to produce the exact lengths, bends and connections to meet design specifications.
What is fabricated rebar?

Shaping the reinforcing bars into customized shapes to meet project requirements.
What is corrosion-resistant rebar?

Prevents the deterioration of concrete reinforced structures. Nucor Rebar provides a full range of sustainable, corrosion-resistant reinforcing products.
What is epoxy coated rebar?

Epoxy coated rebar is used to strengthen concrete and protect against corrosion in areas that might be exposed to exposure to de-icing salts or marine environments. The coating is applied prior to shipping.
What is galvanized rebar?

Galvanized rebar is hot dipped in zinc to create a coating that protects it from the elements, making it stronger and more resistant to erosion. Galvanized bar results in a high level of adhesion and increases the bond between the bar and concrete.
What is stainless steel rebar?

Stainless steel rebar provides strength and long-term corrosion resistance from road salt and harsh marine environments.
What is fiberglass rebar?

Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) composite rebar (fiberglass rebar) is more resistant to corrosion, lighter in weight, and high-performing due to its compressive, tensile and fatigue strength.
What is welded wire mesh?

Welded mesh is a prefabricated grid made of parallel wires that form a sheet of steel welded at each cross-section, creating a stable, uniform surface with fused bonds to provide strength and rigidity to reinforce concrete slabs.
What are anchor bolts?

Anchor bolts are threaded bolts placed in concrete to anchor down a structural element (or piece of equipment) to the poured concrete. Nucor anchor bolts are customized to the engineer’s specifications with high-quality materials and rigorous quality control. Custom lengths of standard or hardened all-thread stock bar in both right and left-hand threads are available.
What type of anchor bolts are available?
- Concrete anchor bolts or cement anchor bolts
- Manufacture custom straight and bent anchors 1/2″ to 5″ diameter
- Grades from a variety of ASTM and CSA specifications
- A36, F1554-36, F1554-55, F1554-105, A193-B7, A320-L7, 4140, 44W, 1018 cold rolled, 304 & 316 Stainless Steel
- Plain finish, hot-dipped galvanized, cadmium plated and zinc plated
- MTRs are provided with all material
- Parallel and tapered threads
- Anchor Bolts identified by company, project, size, and grade
What is a stud rail?

A double-headed stud anchor (DSA) and the most common concrete embedded material. This is a specific type of reinforcement system that connects concrete decks to columns.
Does Nucor Rebar Fabrication offer any specialty items?

Nucor Rebar Fabrication supplies a wide range of concrete reinforcing, embedment & construction materials. In addition to regular & weldable G30.21 400 rebar, we can provide epoxy coated, stainless steel, MMFX & GFRP bar. Other products that we manufacture in-house include couplers, coupling nuts, anchor bolt sleeves and lifting hooks that can be supplied as part of the reinforcing package.
What is a rebar cage?

Welded rebar cages are pre-assembled rebar cages or columns that are customized in-house and then shipped to the job site. Our state-of-the-art Schnell Rebar Cage Welding Machines feature full CNC control and robotic welding, producing a consistent, high-quality product to meet your schedule. Our cage shop staff are experienced, reliable and committed to the highest quality and safety standards.
What size rebar cages are available?

Cages are available in diameters from 200 – 1500mm.
What is threaded bar?

Threaded bar (threaded rod, studding or screw rod) is a common fastener type that features continuous threading along its entire length. Primarily used for creating connections or providing structural support, the threading might run the full length of the bar (all thread), or partway from each end.
What are rebar couplers?

Rebar couplers are components that connect the threaded reinforcing bars to form a mechanical splice, which is imperative to the integrity of reinforced concrete.
