We have come every year in December from Hamilton to Simcoe to see the Christmas lights. We stop at the Barrel Restaurant first, and it is a highlight of our trip: excellent food, excellent atmosphere. There is a very large menu, so I know people can order what they want and sometimes get something different from what they want. Suffice to say that I find the Penne Capri on par with meals served in Italy, and my husband and in-laws refuse to order anything other than the lasagna because they enjoy it so much every time. Just visited this reno'd restaurant. Had two orders of wings (1.5lbs for price of 1lb on Tuesdays) and some beer. GREAT wings, nice atmosphere ... very clean. Wings were hot, beer was cold. Typical chain resto.. but looks like they have a format that works! They still hire the typical kids to run the place, but they have a plan in place to help ensure the customers' satisfaction. They do everything they can now, to ensure everything is in the bag before you leave the takeout window, and the food is quite good, for what it is too!
