We took our two daughters to the Keg this evening and the food was very good. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, the sides were all warm and everything was very flavourful. The kids menu, colouring items and special details (fruit/veg right away) made it a great family location. Our only issue was the service. When you go to chain restaurant, you often get apathy, slow service, and usually something below par. In this case, I was pleasantly surprised. First off, when we were seated, they did the server's name in crayon as many chains do, but also pointed out where the washrooms are and told us explicitly that we could ask any server for anything if she was not visible. The chocolate milkshake was loved by my daughter, and was nice and thick with the extra that didnt make the glass served in the stainless stell container it was made in. We were getting worried about service when our brushetta bread took so long, but the server showed up, and apologized for the delay telling us the original order was not up to par, so they remade it, and because of the delay, it was on the house. WOW - free food and I didnt have to complain at all. The chicken fajita was served sizzling hot and the wings were very good. The atmosphere is typical for a bar and grill, targetting the younger crowd. The staff all wore blue t-shirts with cheeky slogans such as "Please tip well - i know that's not your wife" and the servers are selected for certain assets that goes well beyond statistical coincidence. I would go back with the guys, or a business client, but not really a family place, but the food was very good, service was excellent, and little things like stocking diet redbull as well as the regular blue can, made it a great place to eat. I am a local. Truthfully, we havn't eaten at the Bruce in over 6 years. We just didn't like the atmosphere inside for our family. Recently, I heard from a friend that it's improved greatly. So, we decided to give it another try. Our family went for wing night. We LOVED IT! Wings are big, plump & juicy. The saucy ones (medium & hot) weren't over sauced-just right. The dry rub ones (cajun rub) were delicious! Our daughter ordered chicken fingers & fries. They were not processed chicken fingers; but the real deal-always love to see that. The fries are awesome-FRESH CUT!! Our son ordered the mini burgers & chips. They were yummy! You can't beat homemade burgers. My only complaint (reason for 4 stars) would be that the waitress could've been a little more attentive. She didn't smile much and at times we wondered if she forgot about us. That being said, it didn't spoil the meal by any means. We all agreed that we'll be back. Can't wait to go back for kids eat free Sunday. It was so much better than going to our "chain" restaurants. I rated this Keg a 4 but that is a balance of infleucnes because there is a good side and a down side. The good: the cleavage OR the mini-skirts. Notice that checking out some cleavage on young ladies or short skirts is pure entertainment and super. BUt for some very strange reason no waitress has both of them. Its either this or that. What is the story? I dont know. The girls with cleavage have pants, the girls in minis have no cleavage. STRANGE> the other down side is the kids. People, if you have three kids can you ask them to stay at home or leave their baseball caps at home? this is a high class restaurant. There is a burger place around the corner did you mean to take them there? I am not going to come back and order alcohol if there are kids around.
